Tony Soprano just keeps getting sexier and sexier.

I’m still only on Season 2, my loving girlfriend made me start at the beginning. Every time I watch another episode, I fall harder and harder for his rough but sensitive charm; his no-bull shit turned soft attitude around his daughter, his nephew; his therapy sessions!; the way he protects Dr. Melfi…

it’s almost enough to overlook the fact that he and his “family” murder hundreds of people, thousands of people, torture, cheat, steal, “shake-down,” eat nasty meal and endless bowls of pasta, enough to feed a small country…

I’m off to watch Season 2, Episode 4! Maybe Tony’ll take his shirt off in this one…

hope for agoldensummer. i first heard them play in clinton, ny, on the steps of a little cafe in the center of town.

This week I have been especially in love with bluegrass. Southern folk music. My days are a blur of the Avett Brothers, hope for agoldensummer, Jenny Lewis & the Watson Twins, Old Crow Medicine Show, Over the Rhine, The Everybody Fields, The Biscuit Burners…

I work in an office with ten numbered computer stations, and I am alone in here for 5-8 hours a day. I keep the windows open so I can feel the outside world, I set up Pandora radio, and I read novels and theory and poems and plays on the reading list I am supposed to know by next March.

Sometimes I stop everything else and just listen to the music, and I cannot let go of my amazement each time Pandora finds a new band or artist that fits with the “musical taste” I’ve outlined for it. Strange that this computer, this online radio, seems to know what I like more than most people in my life.

I like the silence of this clear-cut music. I love the woven sounds, all the colored threads sewn together.
